A devastating explosion occurred on Werlsee in Grünheide, causing two boats to catch fire and seriously injuring three people. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast.
On Wednesday, a catastrophic incident unfolded on Werlsee in Grünheide (Oder-Spree). A nine-meter cabin cruiser exploded shortly after setting off and caught fire, as reported by RBB and Bild newspaper. The force of the explosion was so strong that it threw the skipper into the water. Despite his injuries, he managed to save his three passengers.
Among the injured was an 87-year-old man who suffered severe burns and was taken to the Berlin Accident Hospital. His two companions, an 84-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, also sustained serious injuries and required immediate medical attention.
The burning cabin cruiser drifted uncontrollably toward a nearby houseboat, setting it ablaze as well. Both boats were completely destroyed by the fire. The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, and the police have launched an investigation to determine what led to the tragic incident.
