A tragic discovery confirms that a teenager who attempted to swim across the Danube has been found dead after days of searching by the police.
A 17-year-old boy was found dead at a power plant on the Danube in Ulm, according to a report by t-online.de. The local police confirmed that the body belonged to the teenager who had been missing since Friday. The police had suspected the minor had drowned in the Danube and had announced over the weekend that there were no signs he had reached the shore safely. No new information regarding the cause of death has been released.
The police had noted that the current in the river was still very strong. A helicopter was deployed on Sunday morning to aid in the search for the boy.
The teenager had attempted to swim across the Danube from Ulm to Neu-Ulm with three other men. According to earlier police reports, the boy from the Alb-Donau district had gone underwater several times during the swim. Due to privacy concerns, no further details about the other three swimmers were provided by the police.
