A motorbike trip turns into a nightmare
Ann-Kathrin Bendixen, 24, who gained fame as an influencer and a former contestant on Let’s Dance, recently faced a terrifying ordeal during her adventurous trip to Vietnam. While exploring the country with her travel companion Gabriel Kelly, 23, also a Let’s Dance winner, Bendixen was involved in a serious motorbike accident that led to hospitalization. In a series of Instagram stories, she detailed the events that unfolded on what was supposed to be an exciting journey through Vietnam’s mountainous terrain.
Bendixen described her excitement about the planned motorbike trip, but things quickly took a dark turn. Early on, her motorbike got a flat tire and had to be repaired, which she later wondered might have been a bad omen. As they ventured further into the mountains, another problem arose—her motorbike repeatedly lost power on the steep slopes. This culminated in her first accident when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
“I fell, and something inside me kept making a hissing sound,” Bendixen recounted in her Instagram story. The handlebar of the motorbike had jabbed into her rib, causing her intense pain. Exhausted and overheating, she had to set up a tent on the side of the road to recover. She described the situation as “life-threatening,” yet even more trouble was ahead.
Later in the journey, Bendixen encountered another major accident when a cow suddenly crossed her path, causing her to crash again. This time, she suffered a serious knee injury. “I kept losing consciousness and can barely remember anything,” she shared. Kelly, who was with her throughout the ordeal, provided first aid while they figured out their next move.
Hospital diagnosis and long recovery ahead
With no locals able to offer proper assistance, Gabriel Kelly made the brave decision to place Ann-Kathrin on his motorbike and ride to the nearest hospital. Despite the challenges, they eventually arrived at a medical facility where she could receive treatment.
Doctors at the hospital examined her injuries and delivered a diagnosis: “Some of the soft tissues in my knee are no longer in good condition,” Bendixen explained to her followers. Fortunately, her bones were unscathed, but the prognosis was grim. The medical team informed her that it would take months before she could walk properly again.
Despite the severity of the incident, Bendixen expressed relief that the situation hadn’t been worse, but she faces a long road to recovery.
