With the 35 e-tron, Audi is offering a new basic version of the Q4. This version costs around 7,000 euros less than the previous entry-level version – but customers have to forego a number of features.

Anyone who wanted to afford a stylish Q4 e-tron car from Audi had to put down significantly more than 50,000 euros. The Q4 35 e-tron changes that: with a price starting at 45,600 euros, it is by far the cheapest electric car in the Q4 series. However, it cannot keep up with its more expensive counterparts in terms of range, speed and agility. On closer inspection, we see that the price-performance ratio has not necessarily improved.

Cheaper Q4 35 e-tron comes with a short range

The biggest drawback is probably that the Ingolstadt-based company only gave the Q4 35 the much smaller 52 kWh battery, instead of the 77 kWh battery. This means that the stated range is reduced by almost 100 kilometers to 355 kilometers compared to the Q4 45 e-tron, which could be annoying in everyday life. Since the charging speed has also become a bit slower – it is 1.5 kWh/min – the drivers often have to plan a longer stop at the charging station. It should take around 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.

The cheaper price is also noticeable in the drive system. While all other Q4 e-tron versions have at least 210 kW, the new entry-level version only has 125. Travelers will not only notice this in the top speed, which ends at 160 km/h. It is also noticeable in the acceleration, which increases from 6.7 to 9.0 seconds compared to the Q4 45 e-tron. So every overtaking maneuver will take a little longer.

Q4 35 e-tron already existed in 2022

If you can live with these limitations, you can get a classy SUV for relatively little money. A Sportback version is also already available, for which Audi charges an additional 2,000 euros. Thanks to the better aerodynamics, you can even travel around ten kilometers further on one charge.

For some customers, the Q4 35e may mean a kind of déjà vu. This car is not entirely new as an entry-level version. However, it was taken off the market in 2022. The option to buy it, which was then available from 41,900 euros, was therefore no longer available.

Anyone who decides to buy the Q4 35 e-tron today undoubtedly needs a certain level of brand awareness. The performance figures of the ID.4 from parent company VW with 125 kW are almost identical. However, its price starts at under 40,000 euros.
