FC Bayern Munich is reportedly close to securing the transfer of national player Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. However, another defender is expected to leave the team before this deal is finalized.

Bayern Munich & Leverkusen to agree on Jonathan Tah transfer
FC Bayern Munich has reportedly agreed with Bayer Leverkusen on a transfer of national player Jonathan Tah (28).

FC Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly agreed on the transfer of Jonathan Tah, a 28-year-old national team defender. According to “Kicker,” the deal is not yet finalized, but the two clubs have reached a basic agreement on the transfer fee. Bayern Munich is expected to pay a fixed fee of around 25 million euros, with an additional five million euros in performance-related bonuses.

Tah, currently under contract with coach Xabi Alonso’s team until the summer of 2025, reportedly does not intend to extend his contract. Although Bayer Leverkusen would prefer to keep their defensive leader, they are willing to sell him to receive a transfer fee if an extension is not agreed upon. Tah has allegedly already agreed on terms with FC Bayern.

The connection between de Ligt and Tah’s transfers

FC Bayern Munich plans to finalize the signing of Jonathan Tah only after selling Matthijs de Ligt, according to “Kicker.” Manchester United is considered the primary suitor for the Dutch defender. Bayern Munich is asking for a transfer fee of 50 million euros for de Ligt.

De Ligt is seen as the most lucrative candidate for sale among Bayern’s central defenders. He joined the club two years ago from Juventus Turin for approximately 70 million euros but has yet to establish himself as an undisputed starter at the German record champions. If he moves to Manchester United, he would reunite with his former Ajax Amsterdam coach, Erik ten Hag.
