As the Perseids meteor shower graces the night sky, Hamburg residents are eagerly seeking clear views of the celestial event. The Energy Hill in Georgswerder offers one of the best vantage points in the city.
Many people are hoping for clear skies in the coming days to witness the Perseids meteor shower, which can be observed until mid-August. Despite the challenges of urban light pollution, there are places in Hamburg where the meteor shower can be enjoyed, weather permitting.
One of the prime locations is the Energy Hill (Energieberg) in the Georgswerder district. The SRH (StadtReinigung Hamburg) has announced extended hours for this Saturday night, allowing visitors to enjoy the meteor shower until midnight from the 40-meter-high hill. The last entry is at 11:30 PM.
Additional attractions
For those interested in learning more before the stargazing begins, a tour titled “Energy Hill in Transformation” will be available from 8:30 PM. The hill offers stunning views of Hamburg’s cityscape, making it worth a visit even without the meteor shower. The Energy Hill is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Mondays reserved for maintenance. It is a greened former landfill featuring a 900-meter-long “Horizon Path” for visitors to explore.
