Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially removed her father’s surname from her name.
On her 18th birthday at the end of May, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt filed a petition with a Los Angeles court to drop the surname “Pitt” from her name. This change has been officially granted, as confirmed by US media citing court documents. According to the American tabloid magazine “People,” the teen’s legal name is now “Shiloh Jolie.”
A source close to Brad Pitt told “People” that the actor is “very sad” about the change. “He is aware and upset that Shiloh has lost his last name. He has never felt as much joy as he did at her birth. He always wanted to have a daughter.”
Shiloh was born on May 27, 2006, in Namibia and is the eldest of the three biological children of the former Hollywood power couple. In addition to Shiloh, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have twins Vivienne and Knox, who are now 16 years old. Brad Pitt also took on a fatherly role for Jolie’s three adopted children—Maddox, Pax, and Zahara—whom she adopted in the early 2000s. They are now 23, 20, and 19 years old, respectively.
Brad Pitt is officially the father of all six children. However, more of his children are distancing themselves from him. In addition to Shiloh, Zahara and Vivienne have also removed “Pitt” from their names. A few weeks ago, Angelina Jolie released a new film. In the musical “The Outsiders,” which she co-produced, her 16-year-old daughter Vivienne was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the program. Zahara has also introduced herself using only the name Jolie.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated eight years ago, with Jolie filing for divorce in 2016 after eleven years together and two years of marriage. Since then, the former couple has been in a prolonged legal battle over the custody of their children.
