Former rhythmic gymnast Magdalena Brzeska and other celebrities gathered at the Oktoberfest to support the children’s charity “Kinderlachen e.V.” The event, held on German Unity Day, brought together prominent figures to raise awareness for underprivileged children.
“I had nothing when I arrived in Germany”
Magdalena Brzeska traveled from Ulm to Munich with her partner Roland for what was only her second Oktoberfest visit. “I was only at Oktoberfest once in the first week, then I was in Japan for a week training my girls. I just returned yesterday and still have jet lag. Now I’m already at Oktoberfest,” she said with a smile. Brzeska expressed her commitment to supporting children’s projects, sharing her personal experience: “When I arrived in Germany back then, I had nothing – except two plastic bags. I know from experience how important this help is.”
The “Kinderlachen” association, with many volunteers, supports needy children throughout Germany with essential items including furniture, school and leisure materials, medical equipment, beds, and much more.
Celebrity participation and perspectives
Actress Lara Joy-Körner attended wearing her favorite dirndl, a Munich traditional dress she’s had since age 14. For her, supporting children in need is a matter close to her heart, alongside environmental concerns.
TV presenter Karen Webb, who demonstrated her Oktoberfest endurance, shared: “As a mother myself, I’m very happy to come today to support Kinderlachen.” She revealed her practical approach to the festivities: “I usually ride my Vespa to Theresienwiese as it’s the fastest way, so I can’t drink alcohol anyway.”
Anja Gräfin von Keyserlingk mentioned her extensive participation in this year’s Oktoberfest, having missed only three days. She expressed enthusiasm for the increasing focus on charity at the event, noting, “I co-organized a charity Wiesn myself this year, the ‘Belladonna’ Wiesn, and I think it’s great that there are so many people who are committed to helping those who aren’t on the sunny side of life.”
Supporting the next generation
Music manager Thomas M. Stein, a long-time supporter of the association, attended what he said would be his first and last Oktoberfest visit this year. “I’m the father of a young daughter myself, and what could be better than seeing happy children?” he remarked.
The event, held at the Käfer Wiesn-Schänke, was the third annual “Kinderlachen Wiesn-Stammtisch.” Notable attendees included venue owner Michael Käfer and Oktoberfest director Clemens Baumgärtner, highlighting the growing importance of charitable initiatives at the world-famous festival.
