Cupra, the sporty offshoot of Seat, is expanding rapidly and has now introduced its largest SUV to date, the Terramar. This new model boasts a distinctive design and a range of powertrain options.
Since its establishment in 2018, Cupra has made significant strides, delivering over 700,000 vehicles and operating more than 800 sales points globally. The Terramar, at 4.52 meters long, is just one centimeter shorter than the new VW Tiguan. It features prominent Matrix LED headlights with three integrated triangles and a striking grille. The rear is highlighted by an illuminated Cupra logo and the “Terramar” lettering.
Interior features and engine options
The Terramar’s interior is designed with a driver-focused layout, including standard paddle shifters and sports seats. A 12.9-inch infotainment system is prominently displayed on the center console, accompanied by a head-up display that projects key information directly into the driver’s field of view. Another 10.25-inch screen is located behind the steering wheel. The five-seater’s trunk can expand to 602 liters with the rear seats adjusted, though Cupra has not disclosed the capacity with the seats folded.
The Terramar is available in several configurations: a 150-hp mild-hybrid, a 204-hp TSI petrol engine with all-wheel drive, a 265-hp VZ version, and a plug-in hybrid with 204 or 272 hp. The all-electric range for these models exceeds 100 kilometers. All versions come with a DSG dual-clutch transmission as standard.
Technology and availability
Utilizing the VW Group’s modular platform, the Terramar features adaptive suspension control and advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control (ACC), Travel Assist, and Side Assist. The first deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, with prices expected to start around €40,000.
