European Market in Aachen: A must-visit event this September
The European Market will take place in Aachen once again. On the first weekend of September (7th and 8th), around 300 exhibitors from across Europe will set up their stalls in Aachen’s city center, surrounding the cathedral and town hall.
The market will be open on Saturday, September 7th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday, September 8th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free on both days.
Since 1976, the Aachen Chamber of Crafts has organized this popular market. The chamber has long focused on quality design for artisans as one of its key areas of work. According to design advisor Serdar Edem, the strict selection of exhibitors ensures the high quality of the European Market.
This year, visitors will find natural soaps, carpets, ceramics, and wooden clogs on Ursulinerstraße. Münsterplatz will feature children’s leather clothing, silver jewelry, and light objects. The marketplace will offer cosmetics, jewelry, art prints, hand puppets, and woodwork, while Katschhof will showcase hats, pans, upcycled items, and more.
In the Design Forum at Aula Carolina, young craft designers will present unusual objects and ideas. This space will also serve as a contact and trend platform for emerging design talents on their path to self-employment.
Those arriving by car can park in one of the nearby parking garages, such as the parking garage at the cathedral, the APAG parking garage at Galeria Kaufhof, or the APAG parking lot at Karlshof. All parking facilities are a five to ten-minute walk from the market.
