In Stolberg, the 31-year-old man suffered serious burns when he attempted to steal copper cables from a railway line on Steinbachstraße and triggered a short circuit. Emergency services transported him to the hospital, and police are investigating the incident as an attempted theft.

Shortly after, officers in Eschweiler discovered another severed power cable and apprehended four suspects nearby. Two of the suspects were arrested due to outstanding warrants. Authorities are investigating whether the incidents in Stolberg and Eschweiler are connected.
