Festival marred by logistical challenges

The Superbloom festival, intended to be a guaranteed source of “good vibes,” failed to meet expectations for many fans over the weekend. Visitors faced multiple problems, including extended wait times for entry and poor audio quality at concerts.

On Saturday, festival-goers had to endure waiting times of up to several hours to enter the venue. Many also complained about the subpar acoustics during performances by artists such as Tokio Hotel, Sam Smith, and Domiziana. One attendee commented, “Combining the Super Stage and the Olympic Stage and then failing to get the sound right is just sad!”

The dual-stage complex posed challenges for many visitors on Saturday evening, according to the “Süddeutsche” newspaper. Many attendees moved into the stadium early in the evening to secure spots, making it difficult for others to enter later.

The chaos at the entrance, as described by numerous fans, aligns with the newspaper’s report. The “Süddeutsche” likened the entry process to a “carousel ride, except you have to do all the walking yourself.” Staff members at the entrance often seemed unsure whether to allow more people onto the festival grounds, resulting in several entrances being abruptly closed and visitors redirected elsewhere.

Organizers apologize amidst mounting criticism

High temperatures exacerbated the situation, with long queues forming at water stations and further testing visitors’ patience. In response to the criticism, the organizers issued an apology on Instagram on Saturday: “We sincerely apologize for the delayed entry. We are working hard to ensure your festival visit tomorrow runs smoothly.”

Some attendees have already announced they won’t return to Superbloom in future years. One user wrote, “You won’t get away with it this year. I’ve sent emails with complaints to the festival management and the city hall. We won’t let this slide again.”

The next Superbloom festival is already scheduled for August 30-31, 2025, giving festival-goers time to reconsider their attendance.
