Two children have gone missing after a visit to their father. The police are now searching for both him and the children’s grandmother.
Authorities in Northern Hesse are investigating the suspected abduction of six-year-old twins, Mostafa and Yosof Tnesh. The police have issued a public search for the boys’ father, Abdul Rahman Tnesh, and their grandmother, Ilham Osman. According to a police statement, a criminal investigation has been opened against the two suspects on charges of child abduction. It is believed that the father may be driving a red VW Touran with the license plate CB-CX 279.
The 43-year-old German-Syrian father and his 63-year-old mother allegedly failed to return the children to their mother after a court-approved visit on August 31. The mother has sole custody of the children, who live in Wolfhagen, a town in the Kassel district.
Fears grow that the children may have been taken to an unknown location, possibly even abroad, as the father might be trying to force a change in custody. So far, there are no leads on the whereabouts of the twins.
The children’s mother had previously appealed for help on Facebook in both German and Arabic, accusing the father of the abduction. Local media, including the “Hessische Niedersächsische Allgemeine” (HNA), reported on the case, mentioning that the father is allowed to see his children every two weeks. A family court had previously denied his request for a change in custody.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the Northern Hesse Police Department at 0561-9100 or reach out to any local police station.
