After 28 years together, 21 of them as a married couple, “King of Queens” actress Leah Remini (54) and her husband, singer and actor Angelo Pagán (56), have announced their divorce. In a joint statement on social media, they shared that they had carefully considered the decision and were moving forward with a “positive outlook” as it was the best choice for both of them.
They expressed gratitude for their long-lasting marriage and the beautiful memories they created, particularly raising their daughter. “From our perspective, this marriage was a complete success,” they concluded.
Remini and Pagán also stated their intention to continue sharing insights into their lives, emphasizing that relationships that change or end should not be viewed as failures. The couple had previously showcased their private lives and work in a reality TV show.
Angelo Pagán, a Puerto Rican actor and musician, is best known for his roles in TV shows like “The King of Queens” and films such as “Swordfish” and “Hawthorne”. He continues to be active in his career, balancing his work in both acting and music, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the entertainment industry.
Leah Remini’s career and fight against Scientology
Leah Remini began her career in the late 1980s, landing her first roles in television series. Her major breakthrough came between 1998 and 2007 when she starred as Carrie Heffernan, a legal assistant, in the hit comedy series “King of Queens,” which was also widely successful in Germany.
Aside from her TV roles, Remini appeared in film comedies like “Old School” and “Manhattan Queen,” where she starred alongside Jennifer Lopez.
Remini was a member of Scientology for decades, having been introduced to the organization by her mother. She publicly left the controversial group in 2013, which is often described by critics as a dangerous cult. From 2016 to 2019, she hosted the docuseries “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” where she discussed the experiences of former members with Scientology.
Last year, Remini filed a lawsuit against the organization, accusing it of harassment, intimidation, surveillance, and defamation. She asserted that despite their efforts, Scientology had not succeeded in silencing her.
