With over 700,000 followers on Instagram alone, Lola Weippert is one of Germany’s most sought-after influencers. While she receives mostly positive feedback, she also faces frequent negative comments. At the Tribute to Bambi, a charity gala for disadvantaged children and youth, cyberbullying was a central topic – an issue Weippert herself grapples with.

In an interview with t-online, Weippert shared, “I deal with cyberbullying every day, and honestly, it’s challenging. When you’re told daily that you should die, how you should die, how people want to kill you, it overshadows the often beautiful, kind comments.”

Battling negativity amidst health concerns

Although 99.9% of the comments are positive, Weippert finds it difficult to ignore the remaining 0.01%. Recently, doctors diagnosed her with a benign but growing tumor in her breast. Some messages cruelly wish for her cancer to be malignant.

“It’s always a shame that my focus remains on these small negative messages, even though there’s so much positivity around. I’m definitely trying to change that because I think it would make life easier,” she admits.

A call for preventive health checks

Given her large media following, the 28-year-old is keen to raise awareness about her health condition and encourage others to undergo regular check-ups. “Prevention is everything. So please, please go for a check-up once a year!” she appeals to both women and men.

Weippert expresses concern about friends who only get check-ups once every five years, and some who avoid them altogether out of fear. “I can’t understand that,” she says.

Despite making herself vulnerable by publicly discussing her tumor diagnosis, Weippert believes it’s worth it: “If even one person goes for a check-up because of this, then the goal has been achieved.”
