A man was assaulted and robbed near the Opera House in Hofgarten, Düsseldorf. Two women are suspected of luring him into a trap where several men attacked him.
A visitor to Düsseldorf’s Altstadt was robbed late Thursday night in the Hofgarten, just behind the Opera House. According to police reports, two women lured the 35-year-old man into the garden, where a group of men was waiting to assault and rob him.
The women approached the victim after 3 a.m. in a bar at the edge of the Old Town. Following a brief conversation, they led him to the Hofgarten, where he was suddenly attacked by three to four men. The attackers physically assaulted the man, unlocking the clasp of his expensive wristwatch and stealing it, along with his wallet and mobile phone. After the robbery, both the women and the assailants disappeared without a trace.
Suspected accomplices apprehended
The police were notified, and a large search operation was launched. During the investigation, officers encountered two women, aged 23 and 28, on Jägerhofstraße who matched the description provided by the victim. The women were taken to the Central Police Station for further questioning and are suspected of being “decoys” in the crime. The investigation into their involvement is ongoing, while the male perpetrators remain unidentified.
