Marius Müller-Westernhagen has had to cancel two more concerts just three months after a similar situation in May. The renowned musician was scheduled to perform on Tuesday and Friday, with both shows being sold out. However, the 75-year-old has announced via Instagram that he must cancel his performances at Sparkassenpark in Mönchengladbach on August 20 and at Coburg’s Schlossplatz on August 23. The reason for the cancellation was not specified, but “Bild” newspaper reports that Müller-Westernhagen is suffering from an infection and is bedridden with a fever.
In May, Müller-Westernhagen had to cancel a concert in Stuttgart shortly before his performance due to sudden illness. At the time, a lingering infection was suspected as the cause. His management told “Bild” that they decided to pull him from the stage to avoid any risks. Fortunately, the situation improved quickly, and the musician was soon back on stage, continuing his tour.
It remains unclear whether this recent illness is a consequence of the earlier infection. Fans holding tickets for the canceled shows can either keep them and await rescheduled dates or return them to the point of purchase for a refund. Currently, no other upcoming performances are affected. Müller-Westernhagen’s next scheduled concert is on August 24 in Dresden, where he is expected to perform his hits.
The Instagram post further states: “The artist, management, and organizers deeply regret the cancellations and hope for the fans’ understanding.” Many followers have wished him a speedy recovery in the comments. However, some fans expressed disappointment, with one noting, “It’s a shame; the tickets were my birthday gift. Now I guess the party will have to be on another day.”
