In 2021, sports moderator Nele Schenker and rower Hannes Ocik crossed paths during an interview, sparking a relationship that has now culminated in marriage. The 34-year-old Schenker and her partner, a year younger, exchanged vows at Starnberg Lake in an intimate ceremony attended by about 70 guests from their circle of friends and family. Schenker wore a cream-colored lace dress with a deep neckline, while Ocik opted for a dark blue suit.
As a special touch, the Olympic star rowed his bride across the lake, a moment he described to the newspaper “Bild” as particularly meaningful: “The best part of our wedding was my beautiful bride. I’ve rowed many kilometers on the water, but this round in the wedding single scull as a newly married couple was very special to me.”
The wedding also included a nod to their shared passion for sports. According to “Bild,” a saxophonist played the Champions League anthem as Schenker and Ocik made their welcome speech from a balcony. In a further sign of commitment, Schenker has decided to take her husband’s last name, stating, “Taking Hannes’ name was never in question for me; I am proud to show that I belong to him.”
