The Albrecht Dürer Airport in Nuremberg will no longer offer its popular direct flight to Abu Dhabi. This unexpected decision by Etihad Holidays affects many travelers.
Popular direct flight from Nuremberg to Abu Dhabi discontinued
The Albrecht Dürer Airport in Nuremberg is set to discontinue one of its popular direct connections, the route to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The decision was made by the travel organizer Etihad Holidays.
Last summer, the direct flights from Nuremberg to Abu Dhabi were already suspended. Although there were plans to resume these flights in the fall, Etihad Holidays has now announced that this will not happen. The company did not provide specific reasons for this decision. However, Nuremberg Airport plans to follow up with Capital Holidays, the parent company of Etihad Holidays, for further clarification.
Short-lived route and future plans
The direct connection from Nuremberg to Abu Dhabi was launched in the fall of 2023 and celebrated as a highlight of the winter flight schedule. In October, Lamia Azimi, Managing Director of Capital Holidays (Europe), stated: “Our goal is to double the number of German tourists flying to Abu Dhabi in the next few years.” Unfortunately, it seems Nuremberg will no longer contribute to this objective.
Passengers who have already booked trips to Abu Dhabi will be directly informed by the organizer about possible alternative options.
