Risk of food poisoning from contaminated dessert
Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the recalled product due to the risk of salmonellosis, a type of food poisoning. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), symptoms typically appear 12 to 36 hours after eating contaminated food. These symptoms include sudden onset of diarrhea, headache, abdominal pain, general discomfort, occasional vomiting, and mild fever.
In most cases, medical treatment for salmonellosis is unnecessary. However, young children and elderly individuals may experience severe dehydration or systemic infection due to diarrhea, making medical attention essential in these cases.
