A convicted criminal escaped during an escorted outing in Plattling, sparking an extensive search by the police, including the use of a helicopter.
The search for 24-year-old Mohamed Seid Mursal has intensified since Thursday afternoon (August 8), after he escaped during an escorted outing in Plattling, located in the Deggendorf district. The police are now conducting a full-scale manhunt, deploying officers and a helicopter to locate the fugitive.
According to a police press release, Mursal took the opportunity to flee on Otto-Bindl-Straße around 3 p.m. The convicted criminal was being held at the Mainkofen District Hospital in Deggendorf at the time. During the outing in Plattling, he was accompanied by two hospital staff members, a police spokesperson reported.
Police release suspect’s description and warnings to the public
The Lower Bavaria Police Department has released a somewhat blurry image of the fugitive along with a description:

- Build: Slim
- Hair: Black
Mursal was reportedly wearing dark grey jogging pants and a green knit cap at the time of his escape. In their press release, police issued urgent warnings to the public: “The suspect is a convicted criminal, including for a homicide offense, and is considered extremely dangerous. The police strongly advise against picking up hitchhikers in the greater Plattling area.”
Anyone who spots the 24-year-old is urged to contact the police immediately by dialing 110. The extensive search efforts are set to continue into the evening.
