A second person has been arrested in connection with the death of a jogger found lifeless near Klipphausen. What first appeared to be a hit-and-run is now being investigated as a crime.
A new development has emerged in the case of the deceased jogger found near Klipphausen, close to Meißen. On Wednesday, October 2, a 75-year-old man was arrested in the coastal town of Koserow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on suspicion of aiding in the killing. According to the Saxony Police, the arrest was made based on an existing warrant.
The suspect was brought before a magistrate at the Greifswald District Court on the same day. The court ruled to place the man in pre-trial detention. Police reports indicate that the man has no prior criminal record, and he has not provided any statements regarding the allegations.
Victim found by another jogger
The victim, a 76-year-old jogger, was discovered on Friday, September 27, by another jogger, lying lifeless on a path near Klipphausen. He had visible injuries, and emergency responders were unable to save him. Initially, investigators believed the incident was a hit-and-run accident. However, suspicion soon shifted when the vehicle involved was found, and the victim’s 52-year-old wife, who lived with him in Klipphausen, became a suspect.
Connection to the victim
The man who was recently arrested is a resident of Dresden and was known to the couple. Citing investigative reasons, the authorities have not yet provided further details about the circumstances of the crime or a possible motive. The investigation is ongoing, and police have stated that it will take additional time to complete.
