On Saturday afternoon, countless emergency vehicles were lined up in front of the DHL postal center in Geseke in the Soest district. The Geseke fire department was in the middle of a major operation. The reason: an unknown substance had leaked out in the parcel distribution center that morning. When the fire department arrived, a postal worker was lying injured on the ground. He was taken to hospital.
Seven other postal workers were standing nearby when their colleague was contaminated and must now remain at the scene until it is clear what the substance is.

The surrounding shops were closed and evacuated as a precaution. An analytical task force from Dortmund has now arrived to clarify what the substance is. This substance is to be examined in a mobile laboratory.
In addition to the fire brigade, rescue workers from the emergency services, aid organizations from the Soest district and the police are also on site.
