As the Bundesliga gears up for its 62nd season this Friday, a new study has determined which club boasts the most attractive footballers, thanks to a mathematical equation based on the “Golden Ratio.”
The website Wettfreunde.net undertook the task of analyzing the data of 542 players using artificial intelligence. Each player’s face was segmented and compared to others based on proportions related to the Golden Ratio.
According to this theory, the closer a face’s proportions are to the Golden Ratio, the “more attractive” it is considered. The attractiveness was rated on a scale from one to ten.
The results are impressive: six players were rated as particularly attractive. Notably, Yussuf Poulsen from RB Leipzig emerged as the most attractive player with a remarkable score of 8.62, securing the top spot.
RB Leipzig tops the list for the most attractive players, while 1. FC Heidenheim finds itself at the bottom.
Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens ranks third, just behind Hoffenheim’s Mërgim Berisha.
The least attractive player, according to the AI, is Erhan Masovic, whose face was deemed less symmetrical. However, beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder.
Poulsen isn’t the only RB Leipzig player who ranked high in beauty. Seven other Leipzig players, including Péter Gulácsi, Amadou Haidara, and Xaver Schlager, made it to the top 20.
It’s therefore not surprising that RB Leipzig also leads the ranking of “Teams with the most attractive Bundesliga players.”
Borussia Dortmund comes in second with a score of 7.03 points, while Bayern Munich is third. Frankfurt and Leverkusen round out the top five.
At the bottom of the list is 1. FC Heidenheim. With a score of 6.53, Frank Schmidt’s team is last in the rankings.
