A 22-year-old suspect from Eschwege, who fled after a judicial hearing on Monday, has been captured in Luxembourg early Thursday morning. The man is accused of attempted manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.
On Monday afternoon, the 22-year-old, who was under strong suspicion of severely injuring a 23-year-old man with a box cutter at a local festival in Bad Sooden-Allendorf, managed to escape from authorities. The escape occurred right after his hearing on charges of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm at the Eschwege District Court. Despite immediate search efforts, including the use of a police helicopter, the suspect evaded capture.
The investigation led the police to a trace in Luxembourg, where authorities managed to apprehend the fugitive in the early hours of Thursday. According to a police spokesperson, the 22-year-old agreed to voluntarily return to Germany. He was subsequently handed over to the German Federal Police at the border.
The police had previously warned the public against approaching the suspect, who was considered dangerous and possibly aggressive. Despite the warning, the suspect remained at large for several days until his arrest in Luxembourg.
