The dispute over Jérôme Boateng’s statements about his deceased ex-girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt is escalating further. A court is now reviewing a new lawsuit filed by the mother of the model.
Football World Champion Jérôme Boateng is facing court once again, this time over remarks he made about the late model Kasia Lenhardt, with whom he had a relationship. The Berlin Court of Appeal is examining an injunction lawsuit on Thursday against the former Bayern Munich player. The plaintiff is Kasia Lenhardt’s mother.
In November 2022, the Berlin Regional Court had already prohibited one of Boateng’s statements in the first instance. However, the lawsuit concerns a total of six statements that Boateng made in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper. Lenhardt’s mother seeks to ensure that this interview is no longer disseminated.
Injunction lawsuit over distorted life portrayals
In the interview, Boateng spoke openly about conflicts in their relationship, claiming, among other things, that Lenhardt had alcohol problems. According to the plaintiff, these statements distort the image of her daughter’s life and should be prohibited. Boateng defended himself indirectly through his lawyer during the trial and expressed regret over the interview.
Lenhardt’s family confirmed her death on February 9, 2021, through a lawyer, and the Berlin police confirmed a response to an incident where an unresponsive person was found. They emphasized that there were no signs of external influence. Lenhardt was a finalist in “Germany’s Next Topmodel” in 2012 and had been in a relationship with Boateng until her death.
