A shooting incident in downtown Göppingen has resulted in one death and two injuries during the city’s wine festival. The unidentified perpetrator remains at large, triggering a large-scale police operation in the southern German city.
According to Mayor Alexander Maier (Green Party), shots were fired in a bar in downtown Göppingen. Police have confirmed that a 29-year-old man was killed in the shooting, while two others were taken to a hospital with injuries. Despite the ongoing manhunt for the suspect, authorities have assured that there is no danger to the general public. Photos from the scene showed masked police officers armed with submachine guns, alongside multiple emergency service vehicles and forensics teams conducting investigations.
The shooting occurred during the 19th Göppingen Wine Festival. Mayor Maier reported that the festival was not evacuated and concluded normally without any panic among attendees. However, it remains unclear whether the festival will continue in the coming days as planned. The incident took place in the southwestern German city, located approximately 40 kilometers east of Stuttgart. A police spokesperson initially declined to provide detailed information about the events that transpired in downtown Göppingen during the night.
